LUKE SCIBERRAS
Luke Sciberras has focused on landscape, particularly the Australian landscape, for many years. He trained at the NAS and then spent time working as a studio assistant for many of Australia’s top artists including John Peart and Elisabeth Cummings. He now lives and works in the remote gold-mining town of Hill End, often painting the degraded surrounding landscapes, however he has also travelled widely to paint in other locations – the desert, Broken Hill, Gallipoli and China.
Luke’s works are an immersion in the landscape and whilst they remain recognizable as landscapes they often include elements of abstraction and simplification along with an irrepressible energy that is also a hallmark of the artist himself. Luke’s work has been shown throughout Australia; he has also been a finalist in many art prizes including the Wynne prize for Landscape. He is represented by King St Gallery in Sydney.
